ARTIST RESEARCH
This photographer is a realistic photographer. But his photos are inspirational to what i am looking to do. Many of his photos are reflecting on the day to day city life which in my first project im looking to looking at reflections in the city life. His photos are very busy and include many shapes and lines in the reflection. of his photos.
Many of his photos have a busy composition with many contrasting colours which allow his pictures to stand out. Richard Estes is very popular and known for his famous 'Telephone booth' image which featured occupant booths in New York City with very shiny reflections of the surrounding area which got recognition for the real life capture of the real New York City.
He always based his paintings on the daytime of New York City to help capture the real life setting suggesting "Vacant and quiet Sunday mornings" Most of his paintings are dwelled from the day to day activities of people in NYC.
Because his images are of paintings no technical techniques would've been used with shutter speeds and aperture etc so i cant comment on how this would've been achieved. But I do think he purposely chose his locations and time of day as Richard enjoys capturing his paintings based on daytimes in New York City.
